Brief Description of Duties:
- Facilitates the enrollment of prospective international students by: assisting with the processing of all immigration-related documents needed for admission and enrollment to the University; working in partnership with the Admissions application processing staff; and communicating with international students as needed to facilitate their entry to the United State and troubleshooting barriers to enrollment.
- Assists the Office with developing the procedures and protocols for the maintenance of complete and accurate student data required for SEVIS, and monitoring and updating students’ SEVIS records.
- Meets with and advises prospective international students, as well as continuing international students, to assist them with their admissions and enrollment challenges.
- Keeps abreast of INS policies and procedures, and maintains accurate records and statistics on I-20’s, transfers, practical training applications processed, letters to the Social Security Administration and international students demographics.
- Serves as liaison between UDC and embassies, other universities, and international organizations as needed to resolve student admissions and enrollment issues.
- Coordinates individual and group presentations to assist prospective and continuing international students in their understanding of the University and its admissions and enrollment procedures, and how to successfully matriculate and assimilate to campus life.
- Prepares, reviews, evaluates, processes, and organizes important documents related to international students including but not limited to passports; student visas; financial affidavits; transfer documents; I-20s; work permits; and social security cards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of specialized SEVIS experience and of working with prospective and continuing international students in a higher education or other similar setting.

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988, D.C. Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.
Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation. The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia. The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
