Description

The Project Coordinator for Outreach and Recruitment Services will coordinate outreach and recruitment activities for the academic and land-grant programs of the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) of the University of the District of Columbia.  The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Associate Dean for Programs, the Coordinator of marketing and public relations, and the Program Directors of the Academic and land grant programs in CAUSES.  Responsibilities include assisting in the development and implementation of recruitment initiatives for the college’s academic programs and information campaigns about its land-grant programs. Conducts research projects including literature research, data collection, compilation of data and data analysis for preparation of reports and for the continuous improvement of CAUSES outreach and recruitment efforts. The incumbent is expected to perform assigned duties with a high degree of independence, professionalism, initiative and efficiency, exercising good judgment and paying attention to detail.

Brief Description of Duties

  1. Develops student recruitment initiatives and information campaigns in close collaboration with the CAUSES academic program directors.
  2. Develops information campaigns about CAUSES land-grant programs for DC residents interested in professional development opportunities in collaboration with CAUSES land-grant program directors.
  3. Establishes contact and solicits interest and collaboration of individuals and organizations relevant to CAUSES recruitment efforts.
  4. Coordinates and oversees all recruitment initiatives incl. but not limited to collaborations with DCPS STEM teachers, health and wellness related organizations, environmental organizations and DC government agencies and federal agencies where appropriate.
  5. Establishes increased presence and visibility of CAUSES programs amount relevant constituencies’ incl. DCPS students, teachers, DC Government agencies, nom-profits and private sector entities.
  6. Serves as an informational source regarding the College’s academic and land-grant programs for students, faculty, administrators in the community at large.
  7. Collaborates closely with the CAUSES marketing and communications unit to develop ICT, social media, and print resources for purposes of recruitment.
  8. Coordinates and, where necessary, trains recruitment teams of CAUSES faculty, staff, students and alumni to increase the reach and effectiveness of CAUSES recruitment initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education/ specialized work experience.
  2. Three (3) years of progressive experience in a related academic and/or administrative position. Relevant professional experience appropriate to the programs and mission of CAUSES preferred.

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988, D.C. Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
