Brief Description of Duties
This position is located in the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia. The principal purpose of the position is to portray architectural ideas and information through drawings and supplying information needed to fabricate, construct, assemble, maintain, repair, install and procure equipment and facilities. Work is performed without the immediate supervision in carrying out assignments; however, the supervisor (program director) will assist the employee with unusual situations that do not have clear precedents. The incumbent will report all progress of work directly to the supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. In the analysis of existing housing or housing proposed for construction, applies practical knowledge of construction techniques and procedures, good housing design, and a detailed knowledge of agency requirements and regulations.
  2. Recommends acceptance or rejection of mortgage insurance for housing after analysis of drawings and specifications and/or inspections.
  3. Provides information on the agency’s requirements or procedures to architect-engineer firms, construction contractors, builders, lending agencies and others.
  4. Confers with manufacturers, municipal and state officials, and representatives of other government agencies both to give and obtain information on problems affecting the agency’s programs and operations.
  5. Reviews cost estimates from construction documents and specifications.
  6. Performs construction administration to clients sponsored in the grant.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Job Requirements

  • Four year degree in Architecture.
  • Three to five years’ experience in field
  1. Condition of Employment:  This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability.   

    Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
