Brief Description of Duties


Incumbent functions as the Internship and Retention Coordinator as a team member of the TAACCCT 3 Grant, at UDC-Community College.  Incumbent will be responsible for enhancing the success of students involved in the Construction Academy and the Hospitality Academy.  This position is highly visible and is primarily responsible for coordinating internship placement, provide career retention, and provide program guidance.  Incumbent functions under the supervision of the Project Director of the Construction Academy and Hospitality Academy.

  • Develop and enforce policies for employer participation in recruiting program regarding acceptable methods of employer outreach
  • Prepare and screen viable candidates for Internship opportunities in Construction or Hospitality work environments
  • Conduct outreach to local employers who are willing to be a hosting site for Construction or Hospitality participants
  • Recruit and develop relationships with Construction companies and companies that offer potential job opportunities in Hospitality industries
  • Assess employer needs and review employer feedback
  • Collaborate with the Community College Director of Career Services and other appropriate departments
  • Responsible for reports and evaluations of the Internship component of the Construction Academy and the Hospitality Academy
  • Develop and maintain employer relationship in assigned industry, to expand the range of employer recruiting activities by actively researching and marketing participants to existing employers and new contacts
  • Network with Chamber of Commerce, employers and professional associations for recruiting purposes
  • Represents office in a variety of University, community and other networking events, visits to employer sites, and hosting organizations on campus for employer development and cultivation purposes through group meetings and other organizations
  • Work 1-1 or in groups to assist in the development of targeted job search preparation in the industry specialization
  • Determine readiness for direct employer interface and assist in connecting students directly with employers (other duties as assigned)
  • Assisting participants with job search related coaching and performing employer outreach
  • Prepare and submit reports related to internship and employment results.
  • All other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
 

  1. Bachelors Degree in related field required
  2. At least three (3) years of related work experience working with students, or in an academic setting

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
