Description

The Assistant Director of Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning of the University of the District of Columbia, Community College (UDC-CC) reports directly to the Dean and coordinates the development, implementation, and performance of educational, workforce development and certificate programs within the various sites of the Workforce Development Division.  Key areas of responsibility include recruitment and retention efforts, course design, curriculum development and assessment, and the coordination and integration of academic and community education programs within Workforce Development.

Brief Description of Duties

 

  1. Oversees the development, implementation, coordination, and performance of Workforce Development and Certificate Programs within the Community College.
  2. Supervises the gathering of information, development of studies, and compilation of materials and writing of reports; instructs and supervises workforce development staff in general policies and procedures and conducts staff conferences and meetings.
  3. Establishes a team approach to program development amongst the Site Directors and with the academic departments in the Community College.
  4. Works closely with the Dean of Workforce Development to foster regional, national and international recognition of the College through effective and well-positioned Workforce Development and Certificate Programs.
  5. Coordinates, evaluates and improves Workforce Development and Certificate Programs in support of the mission, reach and effectiveness of the Community College.
  6. Collaborates closely with the Dean on recruitment, retention and program development related matters.
  7. Analyzes, reviews and monitors Workforce Development and Certificate Programs implementation and effectiveness and conducts regular program assessments.
  8. Communicates Workforce Development and Certificate Program goals and desired outcomes as well as implementation procedures to College staff as needed.
  9. Works closely with the Dean to foster cross-discipline, university-wide involvement in initiatives as assigned.
  10. Supports the alignment of the Dean’s objectives and work plan and ensures that those objectives are carried out in the Workforce Development and Certificate Program area across all three sites within the Workforce division.
  11. Works with all Community College staff to foster a collaborative environment conducive to excellence in research, outreach and teaching.
  12. Represents the Dean in appropriate internal and external meetings as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree Sociology, Business, Public Administration or related field
  2. Three (3) years of experience in community college and/or workforce development setting and supervision responsibility preferred.  Supervision responsibility preferred.

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
