Brief Description of Duties

The position serves as Assistant Space Reservations Coordinator in the Office of Real Estate, Facilities Management and Public Safety under the direction of the Space Reservation Coordinator.

  1. Coordinates Auditorium/Theater schedules and bookings for the purpose of meeting the production needs of the District and community.
  2. Provides technical expertise and assistance for campus and community use of the auditorium/theater; performing a variety of technical support functions. Work is evaluated on efficiency of projects, responsiveness of programmatic requirements and timeliness of completion.
  3. Maintains a master schedule of events in coordination with the building maintenance support staff.
  4. Designs, organizes and maintains specialized and custom forms, records, reports and logs to support technical work processes.
  5. Coordinates and secures necessary support staff for events.
  6. Manages production support crews for the purpose of providing necessary support to theater productions.
  7. Maintains inventory of auditorium materials, tools, equipment and supplies in the theater.
  8. Opens and secures buildings and other areas for the purpose of ensuring facilities are in safe operating condition and/or minimizing property damage, equipment loss or potential liability.
  9. Prepares detailed theater set-ups for the purpose of ensuring that client’s requests are met.
  10. Provides technical consultation services.

Required Qualifications
 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. Three (3) years of related experience
  3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs which include word perfect and excel.
  4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to create and maintain databases.
  6. Knowledge of general office procedures, procurement of supplies and equipment.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is in the collective bargaining unit represented by AFSME local 2087 and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through direct payroll deduction.

Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
