The University of the District of Columbia Community College (UDCCC) is one of the nation's newest community colleges. We operate as an integral component of the University of the District of Columbia system. We are now in the formative stages of planning/creating a 21st century urban comprehensive community college as part of a re-envisioned, robust public system of higher education in the nation's capital. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Bertie Backus Site Director and/or a higher graded employee who makes assignments, gives instructions and is readily available for advice and assistance as needed.  Work is reviewed frequently for accuracy, completeness and compliance with instructions and procedures.  The incumbent will perform duties at the UDC Bertie Backus Campus and all WDD satellite sites.

Salary Range:  $18,855 - $21,715

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                  

  1. Answers telephone calls, takes messages, or refers calls to appropriate person or office.
  2. Provides basic information as requested.
  3. Incumbent establishes and maintains files.
  4. Distributes incoming correspondence.
  5. Collates duplicated material, assembles pages, staples and prepares for distribution when required.
  6. Aids in searching for or compiling information and data.
  7. Serves as messenger as required.
  8. Assists higher grade employees in the office when occasion arises in the performance of routine duties.
  9. Assists in the coding or routing of documents.
  10. Processes and maintains records and written material.
  11. Operates office equipment such as sorting, stapling, and Xerox machines.
  12. Participates in various special projects as assigned.


OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Assists with the activities such as retreats and other special activities of the WDLL.
  2. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Ability to use basic software application such as Word.
  3. Basic administrative skills in processing, organization, time management, and attention to detail.

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.   

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.

Employment Benefits: Selectee will be eligible for health and life insurance, annual (vacation) and sick leave and will be covered under the University of the District of Columbia’s retirement plan (TIAA-CREF).

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
