Brief Description of Duties

with faculty and staff from across the university to review proposals prior to submission to sponsors; negotiate research agreements with sponsors; assist faculty in developing budget proposals, and negotiate a portion of the resulting grants and contracts. The Contracts and Grants Management Analyst contributes to the effective and efficient operation of the office, and provides prompt and seamless assistance to stakeholders both internal and external to the university. The Office of Sponsored Programs administers and monitors grant compliance with UDC Policies and sponsor requirements for a rapidly growing volume of grant applications and sponsored program agreements and the Contract and Grants Grant Management Analyst will play a key role in this regard. The position reports to the Director of Sponsored Programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Developing and reviewing proposal budgets
  • Reviewing all award guidelines and/or sponsor restrictions/requirements and providing guidance to Principal Investigators/University staff to facilitate financial compliance
  • Understanding and applying Federal  and District of Columbia regulations governing grants/contracts, sponsor guidelines, and University policies/procedures
  • Prioritizing work and consistently meeting deadlines; maintaining cooperative working relationships with representatives of sponsoring agencies, Principal Investigators and University administrators and staff
  • Working closely with the OCFO to coordinate with Post-award staff and/or Pre-Award co-workers to assure compliance with sponsor and University rules, regulations and procedures;
  • Cleaning and preparing data for analysis and maintenance.
  • Assisting in the coordination and necessary consultation with the office as well as with the other concerned organizational components including deans, department heads and faculty for the purposes of getting feedback, establishing and maintaining credibility of information, and receiving additional information.
  • Coordinating sponsored programs data management process including data collection, data entry, and data quality control activities for office reporting functions.

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of research experience related to grants and contracts

Condition of Employment:  This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability.   

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
