Description

This position is located in the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia. The principal purpose of the position is to portray architectural ideas and information through drawings and supplying information needed to fabricate, construct, assemble, maintain, repair, install and procure equipment and facilities. Work is performed with immediate supervision in carrying out assignments.  The incumbent will report all progress of work directly to the supervisor.

Salary Range:  $31,110- $38,267

Brief Description of Duties

  1. In the analysis of existing housing or housing proposed for construction, applies practical knowledge of construction techniques and procedures, good housing design, and a detailed knowledge of agency requirements and regulations.
  2. After consultation with the supervisor, recommends acceptance or rejection of mortgage insurance for housing after analysis of drawings and specifications and/or inspections.
  3. Under the direction of the supervisor, provides information on the agency’s requirements or procedures to architect-engineer firms, construction contractors, builders, lending agencies and others.
  4. After consultation with the supervisor, if necessary, confers with others to give and obtain information on problems affecting the agency’s programs and operations.
  5. Prepares cost estimates from construction documents and specifications for review by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  1. Two year degree in Architecture or three years experience in field.

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.
