Brief Description of
DutiesThe Marketing Coordinator shall develop and execute the branding and marketing strategy of the Student Center thorough printed materials and media outlets, including but not limited to brochures, announcements, and newsletters.  In addition, supervises any student graphic design artists.  This is an opportunity for someone who wants to work directly with ad technology, is highly analytical, hardworking, and embraces collaboration and change.  The Coordinator must be capable of interacting with high-level administration officials and be able to develop strong, productive and respectful relationships with stakeholders, both internally and externally.  The position occasionally requires evening and weekend hours.
                                                                                               
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Support general UDC marketing, including signage, event board, printed materials, and promotional items.
  2. Promote UDC brand awareness through unique marketing efforts/events.
  3. Compile event descriptions and updates for weekly e-newsletter.
  4. Identify UDC promotional items each semester.
  5. Ensure all programs are marketed consistently across platforms (UDC Communications, Facebook, Twitter, UDC Website).
  6. Work to create a community through our online social media sites and find unique ways to engage followers.
  7. Consult with the Student Center staff regarding event-specific marketing or press-releases.
  8. Work with the Office of Communications to develop advertisements for UDC and/or departmental marketing events.
  9. Conduct an audit of flyering locations across campus and develop an effective flyering route.
  10. Create and manage a staff marketing plan.
  11. Attend regular meetings and required trainings.
  12. Report regularly to the Director of the Student Center.
  13. Drafts budget forecasting and control, accounting, purchasing, and general business functions.
  14. Creates/maintains office hub for student sustainability initiatives.
  15. Support student center programs and events as needed.
  16. Provide general administrative support to office staff and direct support to the Director of Student Center & Vice President of Student Affairs as needed.
OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, mass communications, English, public relations, advertising, graphic design or related field is required plus three years’ experience in a marketing related position. A Master’s degree in marketing, mass communications, public relations, advertising, or related field is desirable
  1. Experience with graphic design, website updating, social media, photography, video, and technical writing for media purposes preferred
  2. Candidates must possess knowledge of marketing approaches, strategies and principles and have the ability to research, plan, manage and analyze multiple projects from start to finish and deliver on deadline
  3. They should demonstrate outstanding written and oral communication skills along with an ability to work independently with clients and as part of a team
  4. The successful candidate will have experience in assessment development and execution and must be organized, detail oriented and creative. An understanding of vendor relations and production and higher education marketing experience is preferred. Market research and analysis experience is strongly preferred.
  5. Knowledge of best practices and trends related to student centers/unions, student affairs, retail operations, and higher education administration.

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
