The Director of Web and Portal Services will oversee the daily management of the University’s websites, social media, and ERP portal system.  This includes the oversight of Webmaster.  This role will be the sole portal administrator of the University’s Luminis Portal, being directly responsible for its administration, maintenance and enhancement. This position works closely with the Infrastructure Support Coordinator, the Customer Support Coordinator and the Project Management Office. This position will be in the Office of Information Technology and will report directly to the  Vice President of University Advancement

Brief Description of Duties

Primary responsibilities for this position include:

  1. The creation and management of appropriate service level objectives (SLOs) regarding client initiated support requests
  2. Providing status reports of all daily and weekly tasks conducted by the web services team
  3. Managing the overall ticket creation and resolution process using the University’s call tracking system, Track It!
  4. The coordination of all projects conducted by the web services team to include the creation and management of applicable project files, system documentation and customer expectation management
  5. Making suggestions regarding the future appearance of, service offerings for and the overall direction of:
    1. The UDC web site
    2. The UDC-CC web sites
    3. The myUDC web portal
    4. The UDC Sharepoint portal
  6. The administration of both content distribution as well as user support needs for the myUDC portal  to include:
    1. Creating appropriate channels in the user interface
    2. Deleting content which has become outdated or replaced by newer material
    3. Providing overall support for the user community at large
  7. The portal administrator will be responsible for managing, creating, and updating interfaces to other systems (Banner, Active Directory, etc.) as applicable
  8. Proactive monitoring of the overall functionality and availability of the relevant systems

This position may require the candidate to work shift work, be on call periodically, and provide afterhours support to ensure the availability of critical operational components.  It may also require work hours, in excess of 8 hours, in situations where outages or security related incidents have occurred.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security or related field or commiserate experience working in similar positions.
  2. Three (3) years of related experience in the IT or Portal Administration field.
  3. Six (6) years of experience managing teams in IT, project management, or customer service related areas.

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988, D.C. Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
