Brief Description of Duties

The incumbent serves as Respite Aide/Bodywise Project Coordinator for the grant funded position, to ensure that program goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements are met successfully.  The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Project Specialist for the Institute of Gerontology, College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES), University of the District of Columbia or his/her designee.
           
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
 

  1. Serve as the primary liaison for all aspects of program with participants and community organizations.
  2. Develops appropriate care plans to meet the program participants’ medical, social, educational, and personal needs.
  3. Assists in the development, dissemination, and collection of surveys and questionnaires.
  4. Conduct Bodywise fitness classes.
  5. Maintain cooperative working relationship with Bodywise Inc.
  6. Responsible for keeping accurate records of the status of each participant.
  7. Calculates and prepares monthly stipends requested for program participants.
  8. Perform the day-to-day duties of the Program.
  9. Develops, plans, and coordinates program activities.
  10. Submits program reports in a timely manner to Project Specialist.
  11. Assists in analyzing program needs and resources through observing participants’ behavior, conducting meetings, and reviewing data concerning seniors.
  12. Develops and implements plans for recruitment, selection, and placement of program participants.
  13. Prepares and generates monthly reports to accommodate administrative and program needs specified by the Institute, Advisory Council, State, regional, and federal entities, and the need of the general public.
  14. Attend grantor and stakeholders meetings when applicable and as the designee for the Project Specialist.
  15. Conduct quarterly site visits to ensure compliance with the grant.
  16. Conduct monthly in-service instructions and trainings, and provide orientation and supervision for program participants.
  17. Attend quarterly advisory committee board meetings.
  18. Maintains appropriate documentation to satisfy funding guidelines.
  19. Assists in evaluating progress of program participants and provides special instructional assistance to individuals needing special attention.
  20. Verifies all participant entitlements and benefits and provide necessary advice or referral to outside agencies when necessary.
  21. Responsible for keeping records of the status of each case.
  22. Identify appropriate resources to assist participants.
 
 
OTHER DUTIES:
 
 
  1. Develops memorandums of understanding and other appropriate documents in collaboration with the Project Specialist.
  2. Maintains cooperative working relations with community services agencies and organizations.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Community Health or Social Work required.
  2. Three years experience in Aging, Public/Community Health or Health and Human Services.

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
