The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Dean of Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning who makes assignments, gives instructions and is readily available for advice and assistance as needed.  Work is reviewed frequently for accuracy, completeness and compliance with instructions and procedures.

Brief Description of Duties

The Clerk will answer telephone calls, take messages, and refer calls to the appropriate staff person, provide basic information in response to requests, establish and maintain files, distribute incoming correspondence, assist with searching and compiling information and data and serve as messenger, as required.  The Clerk will also assist with routine duties, coding and routing documents, process and maintain records and written material, operate office equipment such as Xerox machines and participates in various special projects, as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.  

Required Competencies

Ability to use basic software such as Microsoft Word. Basic administrative skills in processing, organization, time management, and attention to detail, ability to effectively multi-task, basic problem-solving, works independently and in the team effort, and performs well under pressure and rigid deadlines, ability to follow guidelines and instructions, general knowledge of the organizational structure and mission, ability to maintain moderately complex clerical records, and knowledge of the regulations, procedures and services of the office.
