Description

The incumbent serves as the Project Manager of, and is responsible for, the AdminTech Academy Program.  The AdminTech Academy is part of the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning (WDLL) Division at the University of the District of Columbia Community College.  This is a grant-funded initiative that prepares District residents for administrative and information technology careers.

Brief Description of Duties

 

  • Serves as lead researcher for analyzing and evaluating AdminTech Academy needs to develop and implement this high demand program in the District of Columbia.
  • Identifies opportunities, trends, needs, merits and deficiency situations in the AdminTech Academy. Participates in the formulation and implementation of overall strategy, policies, and objectives for the program in adherence with appropriate rules, policies, regulations, and laws of the University, the DC Government, and the Federal Government. Establishes and implements a detailed set of program goals, objectives and deliverables for the program, in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders which are submitted to the Director of the CWS for approval.
  • Maintains liaisons with appropriate local and federal government agencies, private industry, local businesses, etc., with interests in the AdminTech Academy.
  • Represents the AdminTech Academy and WDLL to external and internal groups.
  • Encourages joint activities with other departments within WDLL, the community college, the University and outside agencies with an emphasis on coordinating plans, programs, and activities.
  • Manages the program in various locations throughout the District of Columbia.
  • Prepares a monthly status report and the annual report for the program. Prepares quarterly narrative and financial reports in accordance with grant guidelines.
  • Manages budget for the program and coordinates requests for funding to cover program costs and submits the requests to the Director of the CWS. Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Assists with the recruitment and employment of highly competent professional staff. Ensures that staff and instructors understand their duties and responsibilities and are enabled to meet the workforce development needs of all students.
  • Works with an outside third party evaluator to develop an evaluation and tracking system to measure program outcomes. Performs an annual program evaluation.
  • Provides for the dissemination of program results to national, regional, and local professional and lay audiences.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to communicate using software applications to include Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and research engines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • At least three to five years of management experience.
  • Ability to work effectively during demanding time periods and short term deadlines.
  • Ability to organize ideas and effectively express them orally and in writing using appropriate language.

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
