Brief Description of Duties

  1. Work independently under the general direction of the Director of IRAP, to perform varied data related administrative, technical, and analytical duties.
  2. Primarily responsible for supporting data analysis and reporting needs for projects or activities overseen by the Director of IRAP.
  3. Develop regular and ad hoc data reports. Works with management to identify and define data related operational and technical problems and develop technical solutions to support improving operational efficiency.
  4. Develop specification documents for proposed technical solutions. Work with Department of IT in every stage of development cycle. 
  5. Serve as a liaison between IRAP and campus customers in support of data integrity and reporting related projects to establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate project coordination.
  6. Generate public presentations and/or training materials and publish reports to promote data integrity and data driven decision making
  7. Perform statistical analysis utilizing primarily enrollment data extracted from Banner to aggregate, interpret, and present data results in response to information requests from campus customers, external institutions, federal government, and the District of Columbia agencies.
  8. Assist IRAP in overseeing and maintaining data integrity for the University’s ERP system (Banner).
  9. Performs other administrative or research related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field is required. Advanced degree preferred.
  2. Demonstrated expertise with SQL and relational and multi-dimensional designs, and the ability to extract, analyze, and interpret data is essential.
  3. Experience with data warehousing, data mining on ERP systems (such as Banner or PeopleSoft) or prior use of college data systems such as Banner is a must.
  4. Proficiency with Blackboard Analytics, Cognos, and/or Business Intelligence software is a plus.
  5. Experience with SPSS or SAS is a plus.
  6. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988, D.C. Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
