Brief Description of Duties

  1. Assists with the daily supervision of the activities in -SEAS laboratories and is responsible for maintaining the equipment in SEAS laboratories and safety of operation.
  2. Provide support to the faculty and students in all civil and mechanical engineering laboratories specifically material testing lab, structural lab, geotechnical lab, hydraulics and thermo lab, concrete lab, environmental modeling and simulation machine shop and other SEAS laboratories.
  3. Provide supervision to student workers, co-op workers, and teaching assistants to deliver reliable and technically up-to-date laboratory experiences.
  4. Supervise and provide support to student design projects, machine shop operations,  and rapid prototyping activities.
  5. Maintains hardware and software in the labs.
  6. Assists students with lab set-up and ensures that service to students is available during the scheduled time of operation.
  7. Assists the faculty supervisor with developing and producing a manual for the laboratories.
  8. Provides assistance to material testing activities.
  9. Performs other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. Undergraduate degree in civil/mechanical Engineering. Familiarity with a variety of the research fields concepts, practices and procedures  Demonstrated experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals is preferred
     
  2. Preferred skills include ability to use CAD software; experience operating mills, lathes, welding equipment, CNC and rapid prototyping gear.
