Brief Description of Duties

Provides instruction, training, and resources in order to foster effective teaching and the use of technology. Suggests and implements solutions that improve the quality and capacity for teaching with technology and online education. Provides resource information relating to new techniques and practices that relate to the use of technology that enables faculty to better use technology.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  
 
 

  1. Designs and develops learning materials related to educational technology (self-help guides, tutorials, and FAQ) in a variety of formats.
  2. Conducts custom training sessions, provides consultations, and helps create support documentation tailored to the specific needs of UDC community.
  3. Advises faculty in the selection, creation and effective use of technology resources for both online /hybrid and on campus courses
  4. Suggests and implements solutions that improve the quality and capacity for web-based delivery of online education.
  5. Supports the department’s focus and implementation of faculty professional development by creating fliers, marketing workshops, maintaining data-bases of participants, collating rosters of attendees, assessing impact, writing reports, and coordinating logistics.
  6.  Assists with trouble shooting course management system failures and assists faculty/students in their inquiries.
  7. Manages Parature help desk tickets by researching and troubleshooting technical/functional issues and responding to requests in a timely manner.
  8. Reviews new and current online/hybrid courses using Quality Matters standards.
OTHER DUTIES:
 
  1. Functions as liaison with in-house personnel and outside vendors to assist in the evaluation of technical needs
  2.  Develops and updates  Research Academy for Integrated Learning (RAIL) website
  3. Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
 

  1. BA/BS degree with concentrations in computer science, educational technology, or related field. Master’s Degree is preferable
  2. Working knowledge of computer operations and applications related to teaching and learning
  3. Experience with Blackboard LMS.
  4. Ability to interact constructively and tactfully with faculty, students, institutional staff, and co-workers.
  5. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
  6. Two years of teaching/training experience
  7. Familiarity with Quality Matters is desired. Candidate should be experienced using Blackboard, Web 2.0 tools, and other relevant applications.
  8. One year experience in higher education in the areas of computing, communications, instructional technology, information systems management and information technology planning.
  9. One year working within a LMS as a faculty or admin is preferred.

Condition of Employment:  Temporary employment is restricted to a one year appointment and employment may be ended at anytime with or without cause.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
