Salary Range: $71,032.92 - $75,823.45

Brief Description of Duties

  • Enhance to growth and development of all children, including those with disabilities;
  • Strengthen families as the primary nurturers of their children;
  • Provide children with educational, health, and nutrition services;
  • Link children and families to community services when appropriate; and
  • Engages parents in supporting their child’s social-emotional and academic growth and development. 
Supervises the record keeping that is required by governmental and University policy, such as:
  • Personnel evaluations;
  • Records of children’s attendance and progress;
  • Records of referrals to and from other community agencies; and
  • Requisitions and inventories. 
Maintains Center’s compliance with OSSE Performance Standards:
  • Early child development and health services
  • Family and community partnerships
  • Facility design and management
  • Maintains records for subsidy and non-subsidy children
  • Adheres to quality program standards as required to maintain and renew NAEYC accreditation
     
    Maintains Center’s compliance with District of Columbia’s MR29 Public Welfare Chapter 3 Child Development Facilities, including: 
     
  • Staff requirements
  • Group size and adult-child ratios
  • Program requirements
  • Nutrition
  • Health and safety requirements
  • Record keeping requirements  

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years classroom teaching experience at the Pre-K level and at least one year experience as a center director.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
