Brief Description of Duties

  1. Identifies fundraising approaches that can support the College's strategic priorities for creating new partnerships and funding streams.
  2. Assists creation of a broader public presence and partnership base for College.
  3. Serves as the College liaison to all University offices supporting partnerships, planning, development, alumni relations, community engagement, and outreach.
  4. Supports the Dean in developing annual strategic priorities that build and refine partnerships that support student learning beyond the classroom.
  5. Establish alumni and other donor registries to support fundraising goals.
  6. Supports Division chairs and faculty in identifying opportunities for developing and funding new projects that support experiential learning outcomes for the College’s students.
  7. Supports the Dean in building a development platform including alumni outreach that will be grown to undergird a diverse public relations, partnerships, and revenue infrastructure.
  8. Directs the development of publications that advertise and report on activity in the areas of planning, partnerships, outreach, and development.
  9. Identifies agencies within the DC metropolitan area nonprofit sector with needs that align with the programmatic resources and expertise of College faculty and that support the professional development and civic engagement needs of College majors.
  10. Provides event planning and logistical support for co- and extra-curricular activities across the College.

Required Qualifications

  1. BA/BS degree required
  2. Three (3) years of direct development, community engagement, planning, and outreach experience required
  3. Three (3) years of experience in higher education environment – academic institution and/or higher education association with direct planning, logistics, development, and outreach responsibility required

Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is in the collective bargaining unit represented by AFSCME local 2087 and you may be required to pay an agency service fee through direct payroll deduction.

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988, D.C. Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
