Brief Description of Duties

Incumbent functions as the Technology Project Coordinator as a team member of the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Division, at UDC-Community College.  Incumbent will be responsible for supporting WDLL Leadership and staff in the use of technology systems across the division.  This position is primarily responsible for maintaining our student information systems, supporting faculty and staff with the implementation of online learning supports, and communicating with the UDC Office of Information Technology regarding technology challenges affecting WDLL.  Incumbent functions under the supervision of the Dean of the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Division
  • Maintains student information systems and other instructional delivery systems by serving as the division administrator, including, but not limited to: creating users, courses, sections; adding instructors; assigning instructional modules to users; troubleshooting minor problems; and performing other administrative functions as needed.
  • Communicates procedures for entering information and tracking student performance in student information and instructional delivery systems to WDLL staff both verbally and in writing, including procedures to create reports.
  • Assists the Dean and WDLL Directors in determining the effective implementation of student information and instructional delivery systems.
  • Coordinates, conducts, or arranges for staff training for the use of all student information and instructional delivery systems.
  • In consultation with the Dean of WDLL, coordinates with system vendors regarding product functionality, pricing, system errors and upgrades.
  • Assists in maintaining data quality in student information and instruction delivery systems.
  • Confers with WDLL Dean, Associate Dean, and Directors to ensure performance data is collected in compliance with requirements from all accrediting bodies, governments, and grantors.
  • Assists in the creation of reporting of performance data by creating customized, ad-hoc, reports as required.
  • Coordinates with Associate Dean and WDLL Directors to ensure information technology resources are available for courses being offered each semester.
  • Maintains liaison with the UDC Information Technology department to ensure compliance with University IT policies and procedures, including maintaining a log of all hardware and software utilized by the WDLL division.
  • Acts as the point of contact for the WDLL Dean, Associate Dean, and Directors to UDC IT department regarding and information technology needs, including, but not limited to: hardware procurement, imaging, and on-site set-up; software procurement and on-site set up; internet and network connectivity needs; and other IT related issues.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988, D.C. Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.
Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
