Brief Description of Duties

Incumbent functions as Information Technology Assistant in Access Services, the Division of Learning Resources, Office of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of the District of Columbia. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Information Technology Specialist and the general oversight of the Director of the Learning Resources Division.
 
The successful candidate will be asked on occasion to work some evenings during special university events.
                                                                                                                                               
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                  
 

  • Responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance and utilization of the learning computer labs by operating computers and peripheral hardware and software applications deployed by the unit.
  • Maintains personal computers for department faculty and staff and division student computers, peripherals and network devices. Incumbent reports hardware malfunctions to supervisors.
  • Responsible for loading program applications into desktop computers as directed and periodically performs systems cleanup.
  • The incumbent serves as a resource to users who are experiencing computer problems and trouble-shoots issues related to access, online connection, file storage, and application functionality.
  • Installs and maintains hardware acquired by the division.
  • Installs software and applications that support education activities on data equipment assigned to the Learning Resources Division.
OTHER DUTIES:
 
  • Responsible for opening and closing facilitates as scheduled.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
 

  1.  must possess a B.A. degree with a concentration in computer science or education technology
  2.  two years of experience in the operation of a general purpose electronic computer and peripheral equipment, network operations, and/or information technology support
  3. Completion of an approved course of training in computer operations or network operations may be substituted for up to one year of required experience.

Condition of Employment:  This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability.   

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
