The Department of Computer Science and Information Technology of the University of the District of Columbia is seeking a dynamic, patron-centered individual with collaboration skills and experiences to support the department.  Specifically, this position will involve teaching various courses related to Computer Science and Information Technology, including both undergraduate and graduate classes. .

Brief Description of Duties

The Visiting Lecturer/Instructor in Computer Science, is a member of the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, and is responsible for teaching various courses related to Computer Science and Information Technology, including both undergraduate and graduate classes. All courses are held at the UDC main campus, 4200 Connecticut Avenue, NW. This is a temporary 12 month position. The teaching load is three courses for fall and spring semesters respectively. In the summer term, the individual will be responsible for developing/teaching summer courses, advising new and transfer students of the Department and assisting the Department Chair.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Faculty duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate students, conducting high-quality research by collaborating closely with the department’s established teams, and performing academic duties, university services, and professional services.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Masters in Computer Science/IT, or closely related disciplines.
  • Applicants should have teaching experience or commitment to working with culturally diverse populations of students at least at the undergraduate level.
  • Applicants should be knowledgeable of accreditation procedures and assessment.
  • Research experiences in the following areas are preferred: networks, cyber-security, mobile computing, cloud computing, computer vision, robotics, artificial intelligence or operating systems.
