Brief Description of Duties

  1. Coordinate OMK programs Ready Set GO and Speak Out For Military Kids (SOMK) according to curriculum;
  2. Responsible for the acquisition and distribution of Hero Packs;
  3. Oversees all activities of the SOMK) Speakers Bureau;
  4. Engage military and non-military youth in the use of the Mobil Technical Units and maintain a schedule of units assigned to the University of the District of Columbia;
  5. Be responsible for contributing information to and gathering data materials such as photos and contact information for Operation Military Kids annual report;
  6. Coordinates volunteer efforts for implementing 4-H program as assigned;
  7. Holds and attends meetings and conferences as needed to assist the Center Director, Project Specialists and volunteers in implementing programs with specific objectives;
  8. Cooperates with Project Specialist and OMK State Team members in developing the team approach to program development;
  9. Maintains effective working relationships with other Center for 4-H and Youth Development and CUASES staff to provide knowledge of new technology as well as assistance in programming methods and procedures;
  10. Prepares reports for submission to the Center Director, Project Specialist and OMK State Team members;
  11. Maintains current professional competence through participation in Extension staff development programs and opportunities such as professional organizations and seminars;
  12. Cooperates with other program units in planning and implementing interdisciplinary programs;
Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelors Degree (Master's preferred) in a relevant discipline;
  2. Minimum of three years of experience with implementing Community Youth Education Programs; and
  3. Knowledge of planning and assessing community education programs for continuous improvement

Condition of Employment:  This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability.
Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.

Residency Preference: The Residency Preference Amendment Act of 1988, D.C. Law 7-203, created a system in which provides that any applicant for employment in the Career or Educational Services who is a bona fide resident of the District of Columbia may claim a residency reference at the time of application. An applicant selected for an appointment based on District residency will be required to submit no less than eight (8) proofs of bona fide District residency. Bona fide District residency must be maintained from the date of appointment to the position for seven (7) consecutive years. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the (7) year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
