Brief Description of Duties
 

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for adhering to the Excellence in Computing and Information Technology Education (EXCITE) grant guidelines, coordinating, and tracking all workshop activities and participants with program reports. The position provides direct supervision, oversight, and review of work for Vaccine Outreach Workers in compliance with the EXCITE grant. Serves as the lead project coordinator for the DC UDC Vaccine Education, Awareness and Hesitancy Reduction Project in the College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES).

Under the direction and guidance of the Principal Investigator, the Senior Project Coordinator will provide programmatic leadership for the DC UDC Vaccine Education, Awareness and Hesitancy Reduction Project in the areas of vaccine education, awareness, and hesitancy reduction for selected sites in the community. The position works collaboratively with the Principal Investigator to hire Vaccine Outreach Workers and is responsible for planning vaccine education, awareness and hesitancy reduction workshops to vulnerable individuals and families with the designated service area in the District of Columbia.  Works closely with the CAUSES Marketing team to track and develop social media campaigns and messaging and work with the Principal Investigator to identify and secure a vendor to provide text and robot-call messaging services.              

The position works collaboratively with community partners and determines the vaccine education needs of the individuals and families throughout the District of Columbia in order to strengthen current vaccine education workshops and develop and create new workshops based upon the needs of the target audiences. Regular part-time working hours will sometimes require evenings and weekends, based on the workshop schedules for the participating groups.

Must be a team player, work effectively and efficiently with diverse internal and external constituencies, perform all duties with a high degree of efficiency, communicate effectively, work well under pressure and be familiar (or familiarize themselves) with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of CAUSES, UDC, funding agencies and program sponsors. The position is an integral part of the Center for Nutrition, Diet and Health (CNDH) under the auspices of the Principal Investigator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and assesses the education programs in the community with appropriate materials and social media messaging addressing identified individual and community needs and responds to questions about vaccine education, awareness and hesitancy reduction through cultural relevancy and appropriate programming.
  • Utilizes a variety of available delivery methods and modalities to provide educational programs and opportunities supported by research and evidence-based results from affiliated programs and universities and serves as a resource for educators, community groups, and agencies that serve families, individuals, and communities in the District of Columbia.
  • Works collaboratively with the Principal Investigator and other staff within CNDH and CAUSES, residents participating in the workshops, other agencies, and service providers to effectively address District of Columbia, DC Metro area, and national program priorities.
  • Monitors and evaluates neighborhood and District wide demographic trends for use in program and community development and collects information with program sponsors, advisory groups, and other appropriate stakeholders as directed.
  • Fosters leadership development offers opportunities for practicing and implementing leadership skills and completes employee evaluation and performance management.
  • Participates in collaborative alliances to link public and private organizations to promote vaccine education, awareness, and hesitancy reduction for identified residents of the District of Columbia.
  • Attends meetings (face-to-face and virtual) with community partners and Principal Investigator and maintains and completes required reports, monitors program spending, and develops a contact database for individuals participating in the workshops for program effectiveness and to send text messaging and robocalls on vaccine education, awareness, and hesitancy reduction.
  • Maintains high productivity standards, prioritizes tasks effectively, and manages resources (time, materials, and staff) in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Demonstrates accountability for the proper use of individuals’ protected health information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is preferred) in Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, Sociology, or other related field of study.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Teams, Zoom and WebEx.
  • Proficient use of office work equipment (i.e., copy, fax, shredder, calculator, etc.)
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Four (4) years of experience with increasing responsibility for community education positions required. Teaching experience in planned educational programmed is preferred.

This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
