Brief Description of Duties

 

Faculty Fellows assist the Center for the Advancement of Learning (C.A.L) in the coordination and implementation of rigorous online course development initiatives and delivery of professional development. Specifically, they will aid instructors and departments university-wide with the building of high-quality courses. The building process involves two parts: Online Build Certification and Peer Review. OBC trains instructors how to build online courses using UDC’s Quality Matters informed rubric. Faculty Fellows will assist instructors completing the Online Build Certification (OBC), and help them through the process, which is detailed and demanding. During the Peer Review process, Faculty Fellows will evaluate new online courses for C.A.L. Faculty Fellows can also build their own courses and provide professional development and outreach to the larger community regarding teaching and learning. Previous Faculty Fellows are welcome to apply, but priority will be given to instructors who have not served in the past.

FLC facilitators will be appointed for the fall 2022 semester with the potential to extend their appointment from January 1, 2023– June 30, 2023, for an additional $6,000 pending successful reapplication and continued Title III funding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mentors’ faculty instructors who are building courses.
  • Conducts peer review of online and hybrid courses using Quality Matters standards
  • Creates and or delivers professional development workshops on teaching and learning.
  • Contributes about 5 hours per week for a full calendar year, starting on October 1, 2022, and continuing to December 18, 2022.
  • Assists in developing Distance Education policies
  • Provides content-area expertise and advice to instructors who are building courses.


Minimum Job Requirements
 

  • Have the endorsement of the appropriate college or division’s Dean
  • Full-Time Faculty at UDC
