Brief Description of Duties

The University of the District of Columbia Office of Information Technology team is seeking an energetic, dynamic, and collaborative Applications Integration Analyst to help customers build and support integration infrastructure to help our SaaS and Data Integration strategy. This impactful and visible role requires someone who can build and support integrations between Banner and third-party applications.

As the Applications Integration Analyst, you will support integration development projects. With a critical focus on integrating and supporting enterprise applications, primarily Banner, within our higher education environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Banner ERP (Ellucian), along with expertise in system integration, data flows, and application interfaces to ensure seamless operations across academic, administrative, and student services functions.

As a key member of the IT team, you will collaborate with functional departments, IT specialists, and vendors to design, implement, and maintain application integrations, ensuring systems are aligned with institutional needs and compliance standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assistance with Banner errors describing technical details that are needed from the UDC perspective.
  • System Integration: Manage and maintain integrations between the ERP system and other institutional systems (e.g., CRM, Learning Management System, Finance, HR, etc.), ensuring smooth data flow and consistent system performance.
  • Technical Analysis: Work closely with functional stakeholders to gather and document requirements for new integrations and enhancements. Translate business requirements into technical specifications and designs.
  • Support & Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing technical support for integration-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems to maintain optimal system functionality.
  • Data Management: Oversee data mapping, transformation, and validation for integration processes. Ensure data consistency, accuracy, and security across systems.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing on new integrations or modifications to existing ones. Perform quality assurance to ensure systems function as intended before deployment.
  • Automation & Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements, including automation of manual tasks or workflows, to increase efficiency in integrations.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain detailed documentation for all integration processes, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible for team members.
  • Collaboration & Training: Collaborate with internal teams, faculty, staff, and external vendors to ensure proper integration and usage of Banner and other related applications. Provide training to end-users on new integration features as necessary.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure that all integrations adhere to institutional data security standards, privacy regulations (e.g., FERPA), and any other applicable compliance requirements.
  • Project Management: Assist in the management of integration-related projects, working with other departments and stakeholders to meet project deadlines and objectives.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • 5+ years experience in web service development and integration patterns using REST or SOAP, JMS messaging, Request/Reply, and Publish /Subscriber models.
  • 5+ Complex integration architecture and design experience with working experience and knowledge on at least one ESB integration platform (MuleSoft ESB, Oracle SOA/OSB, IBM Websphere ESB, Microsoft Biztalk)
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing inbound and outbound integration interfaces with API Web services (REST and SOAP service development skills)
  • Knowledge and experience of databases (SQL, OracleSQL)
  • Knowledge and experience of operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux)
  • Knowledge and experience in HTTP, REST, SOAP, JSON technologies
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong communication experience Supporting complex projects

Visa Sponsorship: At this time, the University of the District of Columbia does not provide sponsorship for visas (e.g. H-1B). This position is also ineligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Residency Preference: A person applying for a position who is a bona fide District resident at the time of application for the position, may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present no less than 8 proofs of bona fide District residency on or before the effective date of the appointment and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
