Brief Description of Duties

This position reports to the Director of Career Services. The incumbent functions as the Coordinator of Employment Outreach for the WDLL Student Success Career Services unit. This position coordinates WDLL employment outreach activities by executing, managing, and maintaining employer networks and agreements. This position is responsible for forming collaborative strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to develop employer advisory groups and employment opportunities in coordination with the career services unit, for WDLL students and alumni.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Co-develop and co-manage career focused partnerships with designated leadership team members and employers while maintaining formal employer agreements (e.g. MOAs, affiliation agreements, and/or MOUs) and a comprehensive network of employers.
  • Support employer advisory board/committee(s) to: develop career and employment partnerships, inform academic/course curricula enhancements, monitoring and reporting trends, and ensuring that all executed partnership agreements are effectively and efficiently implemented.
  • Engage in continued outreach activities with employers, recruiters, students, alumni, and faculty/staff regarding employment and work-based opportunities, career events, and career programming through meetings and a variety of mediums such as social media, website, email, flyers, brochures, and etc.
  • Identify and establish employment opportunities such as part-time jobs and full-time job opportunities for students and graduates with employers, recruiters, faculty, and staff.
  • Coordinate career events with employer partners for students and alumni including career fairs, job fairs, internships fairs, employment hiring events, networking events, career workshops, and etc.
  • Participate in orientation sessions, workshops, events, and classes for students as well as employers, faculty, and staff.
  • Utilize and participate in the maintenance of applicable career management systems and other career systems completing data entry such as career events, client check-ins, employment positions, office documents, employment outcomes, user accounts, screening positions, screening employers/recruiters, and etc.
  • Co-develop and manage intake and follow-up processes for data collection, analysis, and regular reporting of WDLL student and alumni employment outcomes.
  • Represent WDLL at university, employer, and community partner events which may require travel to other campuses and off-site locations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a social sciences field such as: business, human resources, management, social work, or a closely related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of related work experience in employer outreach, business human resources staffing and recruiting, career counseling and/or coaching.
  • Proficient in learning and using technology such as desktops and laptop devices and multiple software systems and platforms such as MS Office, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Able to travel to off-site locations to meet with employers and recruiters.

Visa Sponsorship: At this time, the University of the District of Columbia does not provide sponsorship for visas (e.g. H-1B). This position is also ineligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Residency Preference: A person applying for a position who is a bona fide District resident at the time of application for the position, may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present no less than 8 proofs of bona fide District residency on or before the effective date of the appointment and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
