Brief Description of Duties


The School of Business and Public Administration at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is seeking two Visiting Professor of Management for the academic year 2023 – 2024, beginning August 2023. 

The successful candidate will be expected to design, develop, and teach a range of management courses in the School of Business and Public Administration (SBPA). We seek a candidate who will possess documented and credible potential capability in teaching excellence, scholarship, and service. The candidate will be expected to foster the growth of a first-rate business program, including building on existing strengths within the school and through collaboration with SBPA faculty. The ideal candidate must be a scholar and enthusiastic about working with students to address their needs in management.

We seek outstanding applicants with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to contribute to our school. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in teaching across management disciplines and functions. He/She is expected to design and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in management; conduct discipline-related research leading to peer-reviewed publications; assist with grants, special projects, and other tasks as may be required; have a commitment to application of technology in teaching and scholarship; have experience with or interest in working in diverse academic and professional communities; provide university and community service consistent with the goals of SBPA.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Prior academic experience in a business school environment, work experience in management or entrepreneurship area, and potential for excellence in building and teaching management courses.
  • At least one year of experience related to teaching management courses (GA, TA, etc.) and interest in teaching courses in the core business programs that would include management and related courses.
  • Using innovative teaching technologies at both the undergraduate and master’s levels. This may include online or hybrid delivery, flipped classrooms, case or discussion methods, and seminar or practicum courses.
  • Demonstrated/potential skill in developing and expanding relationships with companies, government, and professional organizations (including NGOs) for grants and consulting projects.
  • Established recent (within the past two years) scholarly research accomplishments in the field and credible commitment (manuscript submission/s to refereed management-related journal/s) to the ongoing pursuit of high-quality research and teaching.
  • Strong commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary education and research
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, initiatives, and the ability to work in a multicultural student-centered environment.


Minimum Job Requirements
 

  • A Ph.D./DBA or ABD (must complete by Summer 2024) in Management or Business Administration from an AACSB or EQUIS-accredited university.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident (Green Card)
  • Having the qualification to teach in another related field is a definite plus.
  • Potential for excellence in discipline-related research, resulting in publication in peer-reviewed journals. Applicants should have demonstrable ability to publish scholarly research in leading journals and the ability to teach with rigor and effectiveness.
  • Must meet the school’s standards to be Scholarly Academic (S.A.) qualified under AACSB standards and to support the school’s commitment to achieve and maintain AACSB International accreditation. No candidate will be considered who does not meet the AACSB standards for Scholarly Academics (S.A.)
  • Demonstrated work ethic that promotes teamwork, enhances creativity and motivation, and builds consensus in a high-energy and high task environment.

Visa Sponsorship: At this time, the University of the District of Columbia does not provide sponsorship for visas (e.g. H-1B). This position is also ineligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT).
