Brief Description of Duties

The Division Outreach Coordinator will lead the full lifecycle planning and execution of research and development, community engagement, and outreach activities with core community organizations, partners, and employers. Supervises and coordinate teams. Ensures the University District of Columbia Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning (UDC-WDLL) educational goals and objectives are regularly met. Develops and executes communications strategies and marketing campaigns to increase visibility, brand recognition, and customer relevance of all WDLL Programs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders that results in trust and respect. Responsibilities include, but not limited to independently managing and performing duties with motivation, initiative, and reliability under the pressure of deadlines while adhering adhere to University and Division-wide regulations, policies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Supervises Marketing and Communications team members and workflow processes.
  • Plans, schedules, manages, and assigns work and activities that incorporates goals and objectives are strategically met.
  • Analyzes research information and develops recommendations to the Dean on process and organizational efficiency within the marketing group.
  • Develops marketing and communication plans for WDLL Division that includes tracking results, assessment plans, and presenting and implementing data-informed decisions to enhance and readily adapt processes to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Develops and socializes marketing materials and social, print, web-based and electronic media placement.
  • Participates and/or leads designated planning and execution of community engagement and outreach initiatives pertaining to all WDLL partnerships, agreements, and programs, working closely with the Dean and other appropriate administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Represents the UDC at all events and activities that includes work and focus groups, meetings, and University-wide meetings as requested by Dean and/or Associate Dean. 
  • Works collaboratively with local Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners and constituency offices to coordinate and organize participation for focus groups and/or listening sessions for the purposes of informed decision-making and program reporting.
  • Coordinates with WDLL Leadership team members to stay current with trends and issues, identify new tools, and provide relevant marketing and advertising activities to produce successful marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with the UDC strategic communications business unit (marketing and design teams), administrators, appropriate staff, and relevant University offices to strategize and support outreach events, and create marketing materials that include social media presence, website, brochures, newsletters, presentations, event support materials, division programs, recruitment, outreach events and other activities, photo sessions, videos, and press coverage.
  • Manages communications process and composes comprehensive press releases, newsletter, and editorials a broad range of promotional material. Includes schedules, content providers, layout/design, and distribution.
  • Collaborates regularly with the University Webmaster for ongoing maintenance of the Division’s web pages to reach intended audiences and leads the College’s social media efforts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and potentially other networking communities.
  • Manages workflow production timelines of events and other marketing-related initiatives on behalf of the communications team.
  • Manages organization of all marketing-related materials on the division’s shared drive.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, social media, tracking and publications applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Job Requirements
 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration/Management or other related fields of study.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in marketing, including community outreach and engagement.

Collective Bargaining Unit (Union): This position is not part of the collective bargaining unit.

Visa Sponsorship: At this time, the University of the District of Columbia does not provide sponsorship for visas (e.g. H-1B). This position is also ineligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT).

Residency Preference: A person applying for a position who is a bona fide District resident at the time of application for the position, may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present no less than 8 proofs of bona fide District residency on or before the effective date of the appointment and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.

Drug-Free Workplace: Pursuant to the requirements of the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, the individual selected to fill this position will, as a condition of employment, be required to notify his/her immediate supervisor, in writing, not later than five (5) days after conviction of any criminal drug statute occurring in the workplace.

Background Investigation: Employment with the University of the District of Columbia is contingent upon a satisfactory background investigation.  The determination of a "satisfactory background investigation" is made at the sole discretion of the University of the District of Columbia.  The University may refuse to hire a finalist, rescind an offer of employment to a finalist or review and may terminate the employment of a current employee based on the results of a background investigation.
